I am happy to say I finally finished the first block...I was so excited to get the material and start on it, but, like others I see, it sat on my table for several weeks. I kept changing my mind as to what I wanted to do with the block and became a little overwhelmed -- and excited at the same time -- with all the ideas that started flowing. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my creative side was starting to show itself. I decided to keep it simple and this is what I ended up with -- I hope Rebekkah likes it.

Oooh I like this. Very nice job!
Very nice!!
I love it. It is simple but has a lot of oomph!
I am just learning how to quilt..I have made a lot of blocks but very few complete quilts. I make pillows, potholders, totes,,,that sort of thing. I love decorating crazy quilt squares. That is so much fun.
Lisa, this is so cool! I just got it in the mail today and I am so impressed with your skills...and to think that you were worried about making this! You're an old pro : )
i just found the blog and i have to say i'm captivated - seeing how differently you all work with the same fabrics is fascinating. and i'm so looking forward to seeing the blocks assembled, too (no pressure!). it will be such a pleasure to watch the process slowly unfold over the next year or so.
