Texture

There was so much fabric I decided to make two blocks -
hope that is ok!

This was so fun - such gorgeous shades of solids and then deciding on
what pops of color to add to it. I used some scraps from
Far, Far Away 2 to add another dimension of texture with the linen...
I'm mailing them off tomorrow...

Hope this works well with your plan, Amanda - great idea!!

Soooo Late

I'm sorry I'm so late with this, Wendy!

I wanted to be wearing a little dress with pants - of course I don't normally wear green dresses with red polka dot pants but I figured it was for a quilt so it would be ok....

Somehow I feel like it looks like a little kid - but at least I'm thinner :-)

For Nadia

Hi Nadia - hope you enjoying that little guy and that wonderful baby smell :-)

I used Oh Fransson's Hedgerow pattern for my block - hope you like it!

Crosses for Jacquie

Somehow I had trouble getting my seams to line up perfect for all the crosses for Jacquie...

but I made three and hope they are ok!

A fabric bookshelf

I finished up Carissa's block last weekend and it's in the mail, heading to her now.

I hope I matched the fabrics enough to your color scheme, Carissa!

It was a little hard to photograph so I just did sections of it - I ran out of white so didn't get the full 30" but it's close...

Pura Vida

I finished up Rossie's blocks today:

and Pura Vida....

(I had to fold this phrase up to fit in the picture)

I made 5" blocks for Aloha and 4" for Pura Vida - this was so fun Rossie!

I can't wait to see your quilt!

Half & half

I've been enamored with this quilt ever since I saw it on Flickr a while ago. Needless to say, I was excited to see it included in Amber's inspirational pictures for her block this month.

This is the first block I've ever made for a virtual quilting bee. I'm sorry it's a little late. I hope you like it!

farewell, round one; hello, round two!

Here is the last block for round one--Lisa's block! i chose to feature the butterfly in mine.
And since I had the fabric for both, I decided to do them both at the same time.they turned out oddly similar somehow... something about it doesn't feel quite right to me, so if you decide to change it up a little, Amber, I won't be offended. :)

thanks for letting us play with the mushroom print!

Round 2?

Is everyone ready? Or almost ready?

I am sending out the fabric this weekend and have made a mosaic on Flikr to give you some ideas but I am open to your creativity too.

I am sending a small square of this fabulous fabric that I would like for you to use in the center of each block (or sorta center) and how do 12" x 12" blocks sound?

You can feel free to add in any other fabrics you want and if you need more of any of the fabrics I send just let me know.

Can't wait to see what you guys create!

For Wendy

Here are my block(s) for Wendy...I made two since she sent so much fabric.

After I wrote about it on my blog, and looked at the links again, I think I should have gone a lot more wonky.

The fabrics were so fun to experiment with....I loved all the solids/different colors.

Hope they aren't too straight for you Wendy!

No, you're right, I am an...

Ok, I won't foul this place up with my dirty mouth. And yes, you can all feel free to call me what ever you deem fit, you'll be right. I am the worst quilter bee ever and I sincerely apologize for my tardiness.
But! There is good news. As some of you hopefully know by now I knocked out a huge chunk of blocks recently, most of which were sent a couple of weeks ago. So, roll call:
Carissa,
Amber,
Nadia,

Oiyi,Jenny,
and Jacquie.
And no Betty, I haven't forgotten about you but...MAN your block jams me up! I have a treehouse block block. But I am trying to push through it! I know it is unpardonably late and I am so so sorry for that. I hope I can make it super awesome to make up for it. And if not super awesome, at least finished and in the mail.

Blocks for Lynn

I had planned on doing a zigzag block since I hadn't done one before but when I was looking through my quilt books this morning I came across a cool star pattern block in this book.

I used the same method as I did on my Brushfire quilt blocks - just on a smaller scale.

I also copied Jacquie and Carissa and made a stacked coin block too - I loved all the fabrics and it seemed like a great way to use them.

Thanks for the freedom Lynn - I really love that about this quilting bee...it's pushing me out of my "comfort zone" of sewing and getting me to try new things.

Something new, every month

I love the quilting bee! I'm new to this quilting business, and every month there is something new to learn! This month it was a good old log cabin block. Dare I say it worked out just fine?

I love the bird, and made the birdie the well-deserved center of the block. Ta da!

Waste Not...Want Not

When I opened the package that held the fabric gems that Amber sent, the first thing I noticed was that some of them had wonderful pieces of the selvedge printing on them. I knew right away that I wanted to incorporate them into the block. I hope that works for you Amber. It's pretty straight (at least for me). I thought wonky might be too much with all the fun fabric. I attempted to feature the little horse too...cut off his nose a bit, but he's still a player in the block. Thanks for all the fun fabric (i'm sorry I didn't get to use it all)...it was great to play with!
